Gua Sha Massage Tool
A Lymphatic Massage Tool
Have you heard of face scraping or Gua Sha before? The Gua Sha is an ancient traditional Chinese medicine technique to move blood circulation so as to improve skin appearance and health, and to strengthen the body’s innate healing abilities. Originally a body treatment, it later became popular with the face for a myriad of benefits: decreasing puffiness, wrinkles, dark undereye circles, and creating a sculpted bone structure with glowing skin.
Since science has progressed, we now know more about the lymphatic system, the pathways of fluids that lie just below the skin’s surface.
Our lymphatic system is an integral part of our immune and circulatory system. It is our natural filtration and flows through our whole body. Particles such as excess protein, damaged blood cells, bacteria, and viruses are all filtered through the lymphatic system. It is designed to protect and cleanse our body, making it very important that we strengthen and care for it.
This system is one of the few without a pump, meaning it needs to be manually stimulated. Through exercise and/or self-massage, we can assist our bodies’ natural detoxification process. Lying just beneath the surface of our skin, the lymphatic system does not need a lot of pressure to be manipulated.
The Gua Sha tool can be used on the face or whole body. Apply an oil first so you are not tugging on the skin. Gently move the stone over the skin in a sweeping motion toward the lymph nodes. Perform each pass several times until you see the skin is slightly flushed. There are many videos and resources online for specific sculpting techniques.
Care for your Gua Sha: These are natural stones and should be cared for as such. After each use, wash with a gentle soap and dry. Store in a dry place.
This listing is for one Gua Sha tool.
