Eir's Balm
Soothing Salve
Named after the Norse goddess of healing, this soothing salve is multifaceted. From bug bites to cuts to cracked hands, this salve filled with yarrow, plantain, Rosemary, and vitamin E should do the trick.
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and its uses are legendary. Sometimes called Soldier’s Woundwort, this plant ally has been used on the battlefield for ages. Many have used it to staunch and repair a bleeding cut with little to no scarring, soothe insect bites and nettle burns, calm inflammation, and fight infection.
Plantain (Plantago major) may just seem like your standard backyard weed but it is a powerful healer. Native Americans used this plant to draw out toxins from anything from a bug bite to a snake bite, slow bleeding from cuts and scrapes, and act as a natural bandaid and antimicrobial. Plantain is also great for soothing inflamed acne and cooling burns.
Rosemary (Rosmarius officinalis) is a strong anti-inflammatory and has been used traditionally to soothe sprains, and muscular and rheumatic aches. It is also antibiotic, antimicrobial, and anti-fungal, making it perfect for skin issues and irritants.
St. Johns Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a centuries-old folk remedy for a myriad of things, but it really shines topically. Mostly used as an infused oil, this plant has been used for wound care, bruises, sprains, and burns.
All products sit in their menstruum (extracting liquid) for 4-6 weeks to ensure a proper, full extraction. This is a traditional folk method that has been used for thousands of years to slowly extract the most from your plant material.
To use, simply press in with the tip of your finger to break the initial barrier, and then continue to apply as needed.
