An Energizing Chocolate Blend

Is there anything better than a nice hot cup of chocolate? Sometimes we want to change up our coffee flavor or maybe we want to cut back on caffeine, but still want an energy boost. This luxurious blend is filled with some of my favorite flavors and benefits.

Orange peels (Citrus × sinensis) are high in certain phytochemicals, flavonoids, and antioxidants. They also provide Vitamins A, B, and C as well as calcium and magnesium. It is a digestive aid and good for your cardiovascular health.

Ginger Root (Zingiber officinalis) increases the flow of saliva and stimulates our digestive juices, and warms the body. As a carminative, it does wonders for gas, bloating, and nausea. It is also a strong antiviral and antibacterial plant.

Maca Root (Lepidium meyenii) is a great companion and has traditionally been used to stimulate and revitalize the body, and is rich in antioxidants. It can stimulate the immune system and has been used as an aphrodisiac.

And of course our dear friend cacao (Theobroma cacao). High in antioxidants and natural caffeine, this plant has a long, rich history with humans. It can enhance our cognitive function, supports our cardiovascular health, and contains many essential minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and iron.

This is an unsweetened blend. If you have not had raw cacao before, it is quite bitter. This blend is completely customizable in strength and sweetness, just play around with different amounts of chocolate and sweetener.
I recommend starting with a teaspoon or two per 8oz of liquid. Enjoy hot, cold, or even added to baking or as a decorative garnish. Mix into coffee, tea, or try with milk or milk alternative.
